Combined Heat and Power - CHP Installation
The Benefits of A CHP Installation
Reduced Energy Costs
CHP can help businesses reduce energy costs by simultaneously generating electricity and heat from a single fuel source, maximising energy efficiency.
Work Towards Net-Zero
A CHP installation supports your net-zero goals by maximising efficiency and using cleaner fuel sources—helping your business cut emissions.
Reliability
In the event of grid outages, CHP systems can continue to provide electricity and heat, resulting in uninterrupted operations and increased resilience.
Green Credentials
Demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, which can positively impact your business's reputation.
Reduce Waste
Minimise energy waste by capturing heat produced during electric generation, repurposing it for other uses - boosting efficiency and reducing costs.
Energy Efficiency
CHP offers higher efficiency than using separate systems for electricity and heat—helping you lower energy consumption and improve performance.
What is combined heat and power (CHP)?
Combined Heat and Power (CHP), or cogeneration, is a highly efficient energy solution that generates electricity and captures the heat typically wasted in conventional power plants. By making use of this heat, CHP systems can reach efficiencies of 80% or more—double that of traditional methods—reducing fuel use, cutting emissions, and supporting sustainability goals.
Who can get a CHP installation?
A CHP installation is ideal for businesses and organisations with high, consistent energy demands—especially those that use both electricity and heating or hot water.
Typical sectors that benefit from CHP installation include:
Manufacturing and industrial sites
Hospitals and healthcare facilities
Hotels and leisure centres
Universities and large educational campuses
Data centres and commercial buildings
Food processing and agricultural operations

The process for CHP installation
Before installing a CHP system, we carry out a feasibility study to assess your current energy use—electricity, gas, and heat—to see if CHP is the right fit for your business. If it’s suitable, we’ll provide a tailored system design based on your site and energy needs. You’ll receive a clear proposal showing; The cost of a self-funded installation, a visual of how it would look on-site and a detailed breakdown of your expected return on investment.
If you’re looking for a cheaper option, you can choose a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) instead. The Power Purchasing Agreement option allows you to access electricity unit rates per kWh up to and over a third of the cost from national grid suppliers; which is expected to keep rising. With the PPA, all maintenance, cleaning and up-keep of the installation is included within the agreement throughout the full term.
Did you know...
The ancient Romans used a form of CHP called a hypocaust system, where they would circulate hot air from a furnace beneath the floors and walls of buildings to provide both warmth and cooking heat.
